Children Subject to Maltreatment

Definition: Child maltreatment refers to abuse or neglect of a child, including physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, as well as failure to meet basic needs such as food, shelter, healthcare, and safety.

Metric Data

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare collects data from Child Welfare on the number of referrals made per 1,000 EIPH community members. These referrals include report made of suspected child abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

Anyone can make a referral. The dashboard also includes screen-in rate. This is the percent of referrals filed that are investigated by IDHW.
