Leading Causes of Death

Definition: Leading causes of death refer to the primary medical conditions or external factors responsible for the highest number of deaths in a population. These often include chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, as well as preventable causes such as accidents, substance abuse, and infections. The specific causes can vary by region, age group, and socioeconomic status, reflecting broader public health trends and challenges.

Metric Data

The top five causes of death are reported by Idaho Vital Statistics. The causes are calculated with data from death certificates.
